BE HERE NOW – Reviews are coming in

The reviews have started to come in for Shattered Globe Theatre’s BE HERE NOW.

I just received a big shout out from the Chicago Tribune, “It’s a vision well supported by sound designer Stephen Gawrit, who uses a throbbing bass beat to replicate a heartbeat and send vibrations down your spine, followed by otherworldly, transcendent tones as Bari enters her new frame of mind.”

“Angela Weber Miller’s rugged restoration set design, together with the elevated sensory experience of Shelley Strasser’s lighting and Stephen Gawrit’s sound design, creates a quizzical atmosphere perfectly suited for what is to come.” –PicksInSix Review

“Don’t discount the foundation for Laufer’s cosmology, either—namely, a diorama of reawakening as exquisitely entrancing as a Joseph Cornell box, assembled by the technical team of Angela Weber Miller, Vivian Knouse, Shelley Strasser and Stephen Gawrit.” – Windy City Times

Greetings, as some of you might be aware, I stepped in to sound design and compose for Shattered Globe Theatre’s BE HERE NOW. If you’re interested, you can get a sneak peek at some of the music I have composed by listening below.

2019 & Beyond

Greetings, it’s been a long time since my last post, and there have been a number of shows I’ve worked on which have opened/closed in that period of time. The last show I worked on was The Plagiarist’s MUNSTERSPIEL back in early 2019. Currently, I’m working on original compositions, including a musical. Stay tuned for further updates.

Iago’s Plot

I’m extremely humbled to be working with my long-term mentor, Shozo Sato, on his remount of IAGO’S PLOT at UIUC. Check out some initial compositions here:

The Body of an American Closes- Jeff Recommended!

The Body of an American closed this past week- with fabulous reviews and a Jeff Recommendation! I was very fortunate to get a nice shout-out from Hedy Weiss from Sun-Times:

“Anthony Churchill’s set and projections (with an exotic carpet covering a stage perched atop a bed of sand/snow) is richly enhanced by John Kohn III’s lighting and Stephen Gawrit’s sound design.”– Chicago Sun Times
